Waiting for Normal

In the book, Miranda means a lot of things to a lot of different people. She is an obstacle for Mommers, Soula's 'Cookie', and the daughter that her father seems to really miss (even though he has started a new family). What do you think about Miranda as a character?

  1. I think that Miranda is a tough character because she has to stand alot of obsticles in her life and she had to be in them by herself.
I also believe that she is smart because she is litteraly living by herself, and she does a pretty good job off taking care of herself.

  2. I think that Miranda as a character is a friendly individual that has a alot of importance in the book. She has a very unique and, good relationship with Dwight who is her stepfather. She feels like "mommers" her mother, did wrong for leavind Dwight, because he was always clean and always had food to serve his family unlike mommers that just didn't care. She also had 2 little step sisters, that she adored. Miranda has alot of love to go around and isn't picky. Like when she meant Soula they clicked right away. she didn't care how she looked or dressed, she only looked ather as a person she liked. Wich shows Miranda as a character doesn't judge a person my their cover.

  3. Miranda seems to be a loveable character since she seems to be adored by the other characters in the story. She has a good sence of humor and she understands people. Or maybe shes just has another kind of characteristic. One were people can be naturaly drawn to her.

  4. I think Miranda is very mature for her age. She is mature for her age because she stays home by herself and deals with alot of problems that a 12 year old would not usually face.

  5. I think that Miranda had to me the mother of the family while her mother is acting like a child and it seems as if Miranda is the one who has to worry about food the money and the supplies while her mother just goes out all day and doesn't even take care of Miranda. For her age I think she's very mature since had to grow up to fast.

  7. Miranda as a character is a pretty good one. She is kind and is aware of the people around her. Her family was kind of messed up in a weird in a way. She deals with it in an adult way and tries to understand.

  9. Miranda grew up wayyy too fast. She is the adult and mother when her mother is not being responsible. She has to worry about things that children her age should't worry about ever. Even though she has all this responsibility, she has a kind heart and is selfless.

  11. I think that Miranda as a character always had the love of learning. She just didnt know it. I think that she could have demanded more of her mother instead of just letting her leave. I also think that she could have dealed with her problems better. Instead of leaving the flute in front of the house she could have just sent it to the school.

I think Miranda is a very independent person. She really knows how to take care of herself. Every time Mommmers leaves she has startegies to go thorugh it and survive. I think she is a really strong person because, she got threw at the end the fact that Mommers left and that Soula who ment a lot died.
