Call Me Maria

Have you ever felt like Maria in the book? She seems like she is stuck between two cultures. Make a personal connection. Explain what happened to Maria, what happened to you, and how the two situations are alike.

  1. I have felt like Maria in the book. I have experience some prejudice in my life for being Mexican much like Maria has for being Puerto Rican. I have also sometimes have felt like I am stuck between two cultures. I am afraid to let go of my Mexican past. Maria finds a way to preserve her own Puerto Rican past. We are alike because we have experience prejudice and what to hold on to our past cultures.

  5. Yess i felt like Maria. I think every Hispanic person has felt like they have been stuck between two cultures. Like for example when i go to Mexico and I see my cousins that come from Anerica and I talk to them in English i feel weird. Are situations are alike because we both are stuck between Spanish and English.
